What programme do i need to open .nef files?

Got my girlfriend to email a couple of shots from last weekend up to work so i can review them against the camera settings.

My work windows pc can't open the .nef files. What programme do i need..? If i have to download, please note i shall have to battle the websense killjoy

She said she had looked at them on the mac so i assume that had no difficulties opening the same files..?!

You can open .Nef files using Microsoft's RAW Viewer.

This can be found at;

As it is an MS application you should have no problem with downloading it.

It's the normal picture viewer, but it can open more file types.

It's how I look at my .raw's.

Ta - also found "picture project" which i think is the programme which came with the works D70S. I'll see if i can download the other programme though... Thanks

Nikon Picture Project
Nikon Capture (current version is NX ~£100)
Pixmantec Rawshooter essentials or Pro (not sure if it supports D70S - it does support D70)
Capture One (you can get the LE version free if you buy a Sandisk Extreme III card - or at least you could - check before buying)
Adobe Photoshop with the RAW importer

There are others, but I haven't check D70S support specifiically - e.g. Adobe Lightroom, Bibble.
