This was before Heidfeld's demonstration laps at the weekend on the Nordschleife.

"56 year old H.-J. Stuck survived a horrible accident in a 4h BF Goodrich Long Distance Championship race at the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife almost unhurt. Because of a technical failure he lost control of his BMW Z4 M and crashed frontally into a stalled SEAT at about 200km/h (about 124 mph). The doctors diagnosed a broken lumbar vertebra and a bruise of the heart. However, Hans is well, considering this serious crash."

Owww. 124mph into a stationary car. Lucky to have survived given his age and the car. Never heard of anyone having a bruised heart before.

Something tells me it won't be long before HJS is back behind the wheel though.

According to the local paper, Hans-J offered to fly the helicopter himself. At least his sense of humour survived intact!

He also credits the HANS with saving his life.

Sorry to hear of HJ's accident. Agree with the above - he's a legend in sports and touring cars and one of the true professionals. Get well soon Hans, hope to see you back racing soon.
