I have just had a sureal experience with a car dealer attempting to sell a Tuscan S.
Driving by a non speacialist/no TVR dealer garage in Harrogate I came upon a graphite coloured 05 reg Tuscan S. Me being nosy I stopped to have a look (I was driving my Tuscan), I am not a big fan of the Tuscan 2 interior, I think the 1 is much better but thought I would take another look, do really need the extra power and spoiler?

The Car looked quite tidy and had aprx 8000 miles on the clock with a price of 31,995 , Dealer came out and said was I interested to which I responded yes mildly then I was subjected to a polemic about how crap TVR's were, "everyone I have had here has blown up and I'm not interested in taking your junk" (refereing to my Tuscan, which I am very proud of ) without me suggesting that I wanted to trade in ?

Long shot is he would knock off a lartge amount quote "to get shot of it" I could take the thing away for £28,500 although "the battery always gors flat if you don't drive it for a week!"

Thats it TVR Tuscan 2 05 FSH for 28,500 (plus I reckon he would come down a lot more).

Why do these people try to sell our cars, if I hadn't spent a lot on the Tuscan 1 and liked the interior I would have bought it there and then.

Someone please buy this car its very cheap and deserves a better home..........

I've seen an 05 Sag for sale privately for £30K, so this is probably the true value of the cars. I know, myself included, consider the value of the car as perhaps what we like to think they are worth especially thinking about what we paid for them and even what we've spent on them.

I think it proves that people are now very hesitant when considering a newish TVR, especially when, if the car breaks down, it can off the road for months waiting for spare parts.

P.S Did you look to see what the black round knob was on the left hand side of the instrument pod?

Hi Tivster

Was it you who asked me about the black twiddly knob on the left hand side of the dash at Chatsworth ?

Anyway - I has a play and on mine (Mk 1 Tuscan) its a dimmer for the pod when the lights are on ...

Cheers

I've had a drive, very quick and very smooth (and quiet) engine. Had a problem with the instrument pod display, but I'm pretty sure it just needed the contrast changing. One previous owner, (I think) bought from Gorners.
Looked fantastic once cleaned up!

I'd have been seriously interested at 28.5K !!!!!

Surprised at their attitude. They've had a few TVR's there over the last couple of years. The've got a good reputation as a 2nd hand car dealer.

Agree with you on the interior.

I spoke to them about this car about 6 weeks ago. The dealer was none too complimentary about the prospect of someone owning a TVR. He changed his tune when I told him I already had a Chimaera, he dropped the crap attitude and went into salesman mode. He offered the car for £31995 with 18 months Lloyds covered warranty without me pushing for a deal. Felt like he just wanted shot of it. He didn't seem to know anything about wear and tear warranties. At £28500 I'm very tempted.

Yes at 28,500 it is tempting, he wasn't giving the Lloyds warranty at that price (but has it not about 18 months of factory warranty left on it, notwithstanding the issues there!) but I suspect he'll come down at least a grand on that if you had cash, he said that he had had a lot of interest mostly form TVR owners, someone wanted to trade in a Tamora which he was loathed to do.

I'm still not quite sure about the interior

I'm sure they have been reasonable dealers in the past but I can tell you he wasn very very negative about TVR's and as I said wouldn't touch one as a trade-in.

To the Tivster no still don't know what the L/H black switch is for (one of the postings on here suggests that it is interior pod light dimming switch I'll check that in the dark)
