935, goose, henry, steve..... anything this weekend?
Discussion
The genuine 935's are all race cars and competed in Group 5 racing from the mid 70's into the early 80's. They were fantastic cars to see in action, not least when Walter R took one to 1st place in the Silverstone 6 hours in the early 80's, driving it in terrible rain like a rally car. I have seen a few road going 911's with some basic mods calling themselves 935's but as far as I am concerned the proper 935's were all race cars.

That`s just Richard`s old thing that he cobbled together using various old farmyard off-cuts.
Actually a very well known car, wonderfully engineered by Richard, tony & the entire chimp tune gang. Obviously turbo charged and very quick but giving away quite a few horse power to some of the opposition. It`s well driven and the chassis has been well sorted within the confines of what is quite an old platform.
When it finishes it wins a great deal of the races it enters (not all !). This year (and last) John Alan has joined Richard in the driving seat. Having conquered the Porsche Open and the Intermarque series the team is focusing on trying to achieve a car reliable enough to win longer races.
I`ve shared the track with Richard from my very first race and he manages to deal with traffic in a very sensible manner, so if they can find the magic string to hold things together long enough there won`t be much hope for anyone else in Britcar !

edited to add the car is actually based on something silly like on old 2.4 911 from memory.

Did no-one notice that the steering wheel on Richard(935 username on here)'s car is on the opposite side to the blue car
Back to the OP - the next Porsche Club Champioship & Porsche Open races are Silverstone (national circuit) on Sunday 20th May and then to Spa in Belgium 15-17 June
Started to practice on Saturday night by getting out the used PS2 I got off of eBay last year - can't get on with the silly hand controller thingy but persevered and was useful for familiarisation nonetheless. Tried again last night and the disc drive seems to have bust. It doesn't read discs and now the drawer flies in and out like Arkwright's till (remember "Open All Hours"?).
I wouldn't normally practice on a game, you understand, but there are very good reasons for it just now;
1) My plane is being serviced at the moment and hate getting on public flights
2) There was only a small helicopter available for the transfer from Brussels airport anyway, and I won't travel in anything less than a Jet Ranger
3) The race transporter and driver are on loan to a GT race team who can't afford their own (peasants!)
4) I have to be careful how much time I spend with Belgians - they're often just too dynamic and extrovert for me
So, for now at least, my practice will be done at home, on my knees in front of the telly, watching the fast moving on-screen action, straining my wrists with a kind of frustrated look on my face

My mechanic used to run it (for someone else) some years ago and can regale you with a few stories no doubt - I think he said it was originally a 1972/3 car. There's probably little left that's original though - it's undergone lots of development work, some of it documented in a recent-ish 911 World article (last year I think). Richard seems to enjoy the technical challenges almost as much as driving it. A joy to watch and if I'm not in a close battle I always promptly move over to give him plenty of room!

The top car looks like the Bob Garretson T Bird Swap shop car he won the 81 drivers championship with, a truly stunning car.
Strange that a car made 3 yeats earlier and only raced 4 times (Moby Dick) is pretty much seen as the pinnacle of 935 development
