After a recent post refering to HT leads im now going to buy some.
Noticed you can buy the extenders but how do you know if they need replacing?
Reading all the service history i have with the car can't find any mention of them being replaced.
96 4.0
Any one help on this one.
Thanks,
V8 Animal

The extenders corrode externally and look horrendous. However, in my case, the rubbers inside had gone all slack making a very loose contact. Once these rubbers break down, moisture gets trapped in there and gets all white and flaky. As a brucie bonus, two of mine fell of the plug at regular intervals. £3 each from ACT if you do decide to replace them, but if they're not that bad and you're not getting misfires, perhaps now is not the time to change them?

Couldn't see the point in fitting £80+ worth of HT leads and re-using the old plug extenders. Its a basic principal of any work I do though I suppose and probably explains why I've never got any money laugh

MAke sure you buy the right extenders I recently had new extenders fitted but turned out to be the wrong ones caused a lot of problems with car.

Eventually sorted by Paul 'The Man' at Austec but do be carful when fitting replacment extenders!!

They move the ends of the plug leads away from the hot exhaust manifold so the leads last longer.

Really? £110?

Were they titanium or something?

I bet they sell lots of those then!

Probably. But should the detectives come, we'll hide you away in a quiet little corner!
