The cerb went in to have its broken drive shaft replaced a week or two ago. I asked to have it out on the rolling road to check it over. Its 'only' putting out 350bhp apparently its not fuelling right and generally not running well. I thought it was running very well myself though. So this afternoon it has been remapped to hopefully get another 40bhp, apparently it will transform the car?

Has anyone had it doen before? and what did you think?

I had mine re-mapped at Austecs last year.It wasnt running to happily before i took it in.But after it came back it was transformed. And got better with use.Must have an adaptive E.C.U?

I installed a TCS generic re-mapped chip and short induction kit and the car was instantly better to drive and lots more power to boot.

I can't tell you how much better the car feels.

The standard ECU has adaptives. Am I missing something?

Was the 350BHP at the wheels?I had my 4.5 on the rollers at TVR Power on Saturday & its "only" putting out 295BHP at the wheels, the best figure achieved was a 05plate Sagaris with 325BHP at the wheels (add 15% for true figure at flywheel).I decatted my Cerb & havnt had it re-mapped yet,its booked into Power 11th May for checkover &re-map,certainly looking for an improvement,it willbe going back on the rollers!!!

Im guessing that figure was at the flywheel. I think its only TVR Power that quote figures from the wheels??

I'd anticipate that'd be 350bhp estimated at the flywheel (not unusual for a standard 4.5), 350 at the wheels would be a very well sorted car, one I doubt you'd be complaining about. A number of us have had the custom mapping for the MBE done at Austec and Paul was raving about the new Maha system he's just had installed, when I saw him at the weekend. You'll be in for a treat. You will pick up peak power but that's far from the whole story. What you'll notice most is smoother power delivery and improved responsiveness.

Do it!

Steve.

Well its being done as post this Steve.....

I have to ring them this afternoon to find out what power its putting out. I hope it will be close to 400bhp, be a bit dissapointed if its not bearing in mind what they claim in the brochures....

They did my car & it came out much better for proper driving but a bit worse around town (having come from one of those red rose chips which smooths out the low revs lumpiness). Much more responsive and stronger pulling. Power is now about 380-390 at flywheel as I remember, on a 50k miles engine.

Like I said don't worry about the absolute figure, it's a nice to have, worry about how it drives.

Last power run at I had done at Austecs mine showed 330 at the wheels, so about 415 at the fly?

Paul sorted mine out with the MBE, I have 350BHP at the wheels... As near as dam it 430 at the fly

It's the control system for the rollers.

having it remapped whether you have the TCS, ACT induction, or standard pipes will sort the car hugely. i had all my throttle pots set up before going to the ring... seems to be running like a dog at low revs and then it clears.. going back to see if a lead, coil, or something not quite right.

then...
its going for remapping

As SteveT says 350bhp sounds good and healthy for a 4.5 (there are plenty about with a lot less). Peak power and driveability should be vastly improved via a remap, so if you end up with 380-390bhp (without short induction) then you should be very pleased. The car *should* drive a lot smoother and you will notice an improvement lower down the rev range (slow speed driving) with less jerkiness. Ask for a before and after graph and you will be surprised at the differences, not only in the fact that power and torque have increased but also in that the "after" graph will be much smoother.

Happy driving......

Jules.

Honestly, all 4.5 owners should do this as soon as possible. Better power, smoother torque curve and better fuel economy... there is no downside to this at all.

paperbag We've even had a new best mpg of 31 lately!!! The Cerb was nicely warm and it was all motorway stuff on the way back from a Croft trackday though... smokin

From my experience, I'd recommend the following three easy steps:

(1) Take car to Paul (at Austec) and ask him to sort it driving

(2) Return with chequebook eek

(3) Leave with huge grin.

Definitely worth the expense. I'd even ask him to do the induction kit at the same time.

Ultimately, it'll have to be done!!

Let us know what reading you get this afternoon.

Cheers

It'll be interesting to see what it does at Vmax then!! (See the trackdays forum, Brunters have won the battle against the local residents, so it should be back soon!)

How does it feel compared to your old (400bhp?) T350?

Even in this dry weather, you cannot plant the fast peddel in 2nd, as the wheels will loose traction all the way to 80 in 2nd, only in 3rd does the car stop loosing traction. You have to progressivly feed in the power in each gear.

The power is more brutal that the T350. The Speed 6 feels like you are being pulled along, the AJP feels like you are being pushed/kicked along by from the ass.

Cerb feels is so much more powerfull...

However, I have to say that I was really supprised by a PUG 205 the other day who really suprised me. Bright green, dushbin lid for an exhaust, and although I was about 3/4 trottle, he was near as dam with me for a bit till 80...

If I get an invite from Craig, I will get the car check at Pauls, then come along to see what it does. will you be there?

Mr F
