Just had my rear window replaced by Willie Ramsay in Edinburgh who has worked on many TVR’s. The problem is the new window seems a lot thinner that my previous one and subsequently marks VERY easily when putting the rear section down! When I say ‘mark’ I mean it takes a good couple of days for the ripples and indentations to disappear! The new window also has a lot more movement to it compared to the last one and looks really messy after having the roof down! Has anyone else had thier rear window replaced and experienced the same thing?

Advise, comments welcome.

Cheers
Neil.

My old one did "Dimple" but this one seems to be really ruffled! Not sure whether to complain or not??

Mine's original and always has those creases by the roof stays.

Mine does that too and it's the original screen. I think it's unavoidable particularly near the roof stays. The original screens are thicker aswell. Can only suggest that you let the screen get warm in the sun before putting it down as this makes it softer.

Rear screen apart - good to see you got the fastest colour with the sexiest interior.

Well, it's hot and sunny here today, as you can see and you can still see the creases by each roof stay. They're worse when it's cooler.

Cant help noticing that it looks like at some point your screen has been severely "pinched" by the roof stays.

Do you use a towel or anything to protect the screen when dropping it down?

Pity none of the mohair hood manufacturers have made a hood with a zip-out rear screen - would mean an end to creases and would give the option of some ventilation with the hood up.

My TR6 has a zip-out rear screen and it works really well - just wish I could get one for the Griffith.

Yes everytime! I'm more concerned about the ruffled effect around the left/right side of the window ... it's almost like there is far too much flex in the window (i.e not tought enough).

are you undoing the velcro fully on the hood near the doors - if not this can cause the window to not fold "nicely" at the ends.

Yes I always undo the velcro and i'm always very careful about putting the hood down. I never had this problem with my old window? Is it possible to get the original rear windows from TVR? It would mean paying the guy (or not) to put it in for me but i'm concerned that if this is what the window is like after only a few weeks what will it be like after a number of month during the summer!?!

Like I said, it's very hot here today, especially inside the car with the roof up. Normally it looks like yours. I think in its previous life it was left folded down for some time and that's what made the creases permanent.

I've only recently had mine replaced, I'll take a few photos to see if it is the same as yours.
