2007 Bathurst 1000

Doing a bit of travelling for a year starting this Wednesday and have managed to organise Laguna Seca and Phllip Island Moto Gp's and Wanganui bike racing boxing day meet into the schedule but have always fancied going to the Bathurst 1000 as well - I was just wondering whether anyone ever been? Always looks very packed on telly - do you need to book tickets ahead?
Apparently the mountain section at Bathurst is as mental as anything at Le Mans (been to the proper car 24h loads of times as well as bike 24h, bike moto gp and classic car 24h).
