Picked up a wee "rattle" which sounds like the exhaust...
I'm thinking 2 things, but wanted to find out whether anyone had experience which might help:
1. Some little monkey has managed to chuck some gravel up into one of the pipes (from the sound).
2. The stupid number of speed ramps, bumps and lumps and my close relationship with them have worked something loose in/around the exhause. Baffle?
Had the odd scrape and wondering whether I should be overly concerned as a result? Not 100% sure what takes the beating in a grounding underneath..
It does sound like theres a small amount of gravel up there somewhere in the exhaust. Worth taking it down to Kwikfit maybe, just to get it up on a ramp for a check on the underside? I'm sure they do free exhaust checks.
... or am I just over-worrying

There's a variety of metal plates on the exhaust, bracing between the two pipes. Sometimes the welds snap and you gain a buzzing noise at certain revs. Sometimes the exhaust rubs the chassis. Hopefully you have one of these kinds of problems as generally the fix is quick and cheap.

Sounds like it is a symptom of point 2. My exhausts have worked loose/broken clamps a number of times as a result of speed bumps, bad roads etc etc. You should be able to have a poke around down there and ascertain which part is loose - it could just be a clamp or one of the metal sheets

Thanks Steve, that sound just like what has happen to mine, as I pull of the power as the rev drop at a certain point I get a buzzing noise, but I didn't know what it could be. I'm getting it check over pre Le Mans so I'll get them to check it out.

Check the centre mount. Roughly between the rear wheels there's a rubber mounting. It might look fine, but push the exhaust up and see if it has broken. It should be in compression, if not it will tear apart over time. Caused me a rattle/buzz at certain rpms that took me months to find. Halfords sell a replacement.

Yep had that a couple of times - the weld that needs doing will be under the chassis plate.

I think I really need to get it on a ramp - don't have much in the way of facilities here...
Might wander over to Halfords later on with my fingers crossed!

That'll be my guess as well. Mines gone and it's on my list of jobs.
Got to the bottom of it...
Symptoms were a buzz/rattle, especially when warmed up and coming off the throttle.
The problem was indeed the metal piece which welds to the two pipes and fixes them at a single point to the chassis. One of the welds had cracked. It's only a thin piece of metal, so doesn't take much of a knock (or two) on the odd speed bump to crack the weld.
Going away for the weekend, so wanted to get it looked at sooner rather than later just to check that this was the problem and it was nothing more serious. Managed to squeeze in to TVRfix who were about the closest to me, and were the only place wth a free ramp before the weekend.
They diagnosed, fixed (new weld!) and helped get a purple pipe back on in half an hour (top service - happy to recommend these guys).
Fixed.
