Laserline alarm and imob

Just put the radiator back in, looks great no leaks etc. Went to turn the key and the immobilser has decided to kick ( I have never had the fob for it and it has never worked until now) engine has shut down all I get is the fuel pump.
I have contacted huets (who are pretty genuine bunch, with a great rep) and they have quoted
£350 for a laserline 996v3 fitted and max £100 to remove the old one.
Does that should like a fair deal?

I can't comment on the lazerline alarm you have quoted, but a Thatcham cat 1 (insurance approved) alarm/immobiliser can be had for under £250 all in. Personally, I would recommend the toad Ai606, with an additional module to detect movement when the top is down. Max £300 fitted, inclusive of microwave sensor.
As for removing your old system, The immobiliser would have to be removed to fit another. Not doing so would be very much a bodge job, and would in many ways make a new immobiliser easier to fit. Borrox to spending £100 having it removed. Given an hour or so, a reasonably competent person with a multimeter (£10 from Argos) would have it removed in an hour or so.

The old one is only easy to get off as long as it was a crap one to start with! If its a Cat 2, or part of a cat 1, then it has to be multiwired with battery backup!

Cheers guys, I think I am gonna have to phone around some more. I have done some research on the laserline and it seems pretty good, but I am not sure if it has the meecrowave sensors.
I have to say the old one was totally bodged in and there is alot of dodgy wiring as a result under the dash which I don't wanna touch.
