Hi guys and gals.
I have an 05 plate 2 litre petrol Zetec Mondeo with 20k miles but have a couple of problems.
When I start the car from cold, it fires up accompanied by a judder which you can feel through the clutch pedal, which doesn't feel at all healthy. Also, if you don't give enough revs at junctions etc, it tries to stall and pinks badly. My Ford garage says 'All Mondeos do that' but, conveniently, didn't have another one there to show me!!! Is this really normal and it it just me, or is there something more sinister?
The other problem is that the gearbox feels really stiff when cold - such that it's really difficult to get into first gear at traffic lights. Again, is this normal?
I end up having to sit at the light in gear, and with the sterio turned down so I know it's not going to stall!!!
Any ideas please?
Thank you.

Okay, in the absence of any other comments, I will have a go.

Phone your local trading standards people (the numbers in the phone book) and ask them. I suspect a quiet word from them and your garage may suddenly seem more amenable. Also, write a letter to the head honcho (Managing Director) of the garage, and tell them that they have 7 days to correct this fault, otherwise you are going to another franchised dealer, and will pass the bill on to them, with expenses.
