Cleaning/refreshing carbon fibre
Discussion
Holy thread resurrection !
My front carbon wings on the Caterham are faded and also have white rain spots through 10 years of mis-use and lack of care (apart from a quick wash every now and then).
Any advice on giving them a simple refresh without breaking the bank or my arm muscles 😂? In google searching, Autoglym Bumper and Trim Gel might be an option. Anyone experience or got other ideas using products easily available eg from Halfords ?
As you might imagine, I’m not normally a polisher ... but I do have some micro fibre cloths and a sponge 😁 And running out of other jobs in lockdown !

Well, in case an amateurs revisit this. Here’s the result. I think the coating is knackered as the white spots appear quickly after rain. So I used T Cut with a piece of paper towel to remove the white spots, carefully going over the surface until all the white spots where gone. Then cleaned all the excess off. Then Autoglym Bumper Gel. Don’t know how it will fare in rain but we’ll see. Quite pleased with result.
