It has a GOOD service history and in in ecellent condition and after all the Countach is getting to be a be of a rare thing these days in the UK as they all seem to be going abroad
But it is at least £10k OTT on price, possibly more. Are they really all going abroad?...perhaps the LP400s, but not the later cars - there are plenty for sale in the US for example in lhd form already and given the weak dollar, looking decent value for money.
An LP400 sold for at least Euro300k within the last month - from the photos, it didn't look perfect to me....
at 70k nobody is going to go near it - I mean what would you rather have? A Diablo SV or a countach anniversary? I know where I'd put my 70k....
I've been tracking countach prices over the last 2-3 years with the intention of getting an LP400. I've gone off the idea since sitting in one though - being 6'2"... As they say - never meet your idols!

No doubt the black Countach is a really good one, but he seems to think it's the best in the world ! In the advert he warns of low mileage cars and that any specialist will agree with him. His specialist is Mike Pullen. I spoke to Mike before buying my 1900 mile car and he told me low mileage is nothing to worry about, as cars of 17 years old could have seals etc. going now anyway. He assured me that as long as the car is checked over properly it should not be a problem. So the seller is wrong there. I got my car for much less than £70K and it is just about perfect condition, fully serviced and commissioned, and with 2 months warranty on major failures. So I agree, £70K is too much for the black car - at the moment (much more realistsic than the £85K he originally asked though). The prices are definately climbing though, and in 12-24 months he could be in the right ball park.

Now listen Vetteboy, yours was too cheap, we both know that! I think he may be a little ahead of the market but apparently the car is in lovely condition. Not forgetting of course that it has got a wing and yours hasn't!
That's ex-Vetteboy if you don't mind: the Vette has been fully paid for and signed over to the new owner today, just waiting for collection tomorrow. CT should be ready Weds apparently. As for being too cheap
Hardly, not nearly cheap enough if you ask me
You are going to feel a bit daft driving Countach when you're still called Yellowvette, unfortunately I didn't think of that when I had my 911 Targa. It would be great if you could change you name "wingless wonder" of "what wing", or "where wings fear to tread!" OK I'll stop now.......you can tell the markets are a little quiet this afternoon. I've got it.....I could be your wing man!!! "Wed Winged and Dangewus!" That's me!
I remember this same subject from months ago - " doesn't need to sell it, priced at fair value, the market is all wrong " etc, etc ,etc and here we are £15K cheaper and still not sold. Talking and wishing won't make it worth more you know.
I have a 98 Diablo sv with 5 thousand miles on it, never driven in the rain, pretty much as new but that does not make it worth £100k (as much as i wish it did) !!
When selling a car like that you have two choices : sell it at market value (if you need to) or if you think it will rise in value sit tight and wait. If you want to advertise at a figure way above market value expect time wasters and piss takers, but don't insult peoples intelligence by trying to convince them that it is fairly priced (AGAIN).

Going to stick my neck out here and say I think it is priced reasonably.
American classics have gone through the roof recently, Shelbys Cobra Super Snake was over $2 million for starters. I know there are allegations of auction houses fixing these prices, but the market is there. You can't however compare a RHD Countach to the American market, my point is the fact these cars have no racing pedigree as such.
Silly money FCars seem to cling to the pedigree of racing, a pedigree Lamborghini can't match. I know they had a stint with F1 engines and do well in offshore racing, but that doesn't compare to Ferraris success. Racing pedigree seems not to be much of a deciding factor nowadays (Look at Spyker, Pagani and Koeningseg) the deciding factor in my eyes for the Countach has to be firstly the design (Horatio Pagani for the anniversary). Secondly the renewed love of the marque. If the Diablo replacement was a dud, and Audi didn't make such a good job with the G then we'd be in a different boat pricing the Countach.
The Ferrari 328 has been stealthily creeping up in price over the years, why not the Countach ? Maybe it's a question of taste, and I'm influenced by my bedroom poster days, but the Countach has been criminally undervalued of late IMHO.

Actually, the 328 and 308 have actually taken a dive over the past couple of years, from downward pressure from the 355 spilling over to the 348. Following your logic, why has the Testarossa not risen in value?...and why are the 365/512BB relatively cheap?...
...I think that the Countach has long been undervalued because, like the Testarossa, it is "of its time". I've long loved the LP400 and am sure that its value has risen primarily on the back of the Miura. The lack of racing pedigree, poor ergonomics, build quality and handling has done nothing to halt the inexorable rise of that icon.
This doesn't mean that I don't like any of these cars, by the way
I should have bought an LP400 for £30k several years ago when I had the chance
I must admit I've never really 'got' Ferraris, in fact I regard the 328 as the last nice looking one they made until they started churning them out. 328's were going for 25k ish about 4 years ago IIRC, are they not around 25-35k at this moment in time ? Allowing for inflation then OK they haven't appreciated as such.
Talking to a Ferrari fan a while ago, he claimed the Testarossa prices were hit by FIATs influence (even claiming some had FIAT stamped on the block on some) also maintaining the V12 put some folk off. I can't claim to be knowledgable on the subject.
What I do know is that with those looks the Countach will always be a certified classic, and with a fixed amount availabe and increased interest in the badge the value can only creep one way, in favour of those lucky to have the keys to one.
