...that's the question.

I've been looking on a few sites about the benefits of having my 4.5 re-mapped. I've had the car for around 8 months now and feel a little more confident in it (although I'm fully aware of what it can do if that confidence strays too far!)

From what I've read on various web sites, tuning or re-mapping or whatever the process is called seems to have many benefits including smoother power delivery and, dare I say it, improved fuel economy.

I'm currently running linked de-cats fitted by Joolz at TCS but other than that I think the car is pretty much standard. Whilst the pops and bangs on over-run are quite spectacular when driving through town etc. it strikes me that I'm wasting a lot of fuel as it's unburned fuel in the exhaust that causes said pops and bangs.

So, what to do? Leave the car as is or have some re-mapping/tuning work done on it. I'd be interested to hear what others have had done and how this affected their cars both good and bad. How much of a difference would I see in terms of performance and fuel economy (although in reality, I'm never likely to be anywhere near the car's capabilities wheree performance is concerned)

Had my 4.5 for 3 years and then last year had it re-mapped by Joolz. Wish I'd done it 3 years earlier. The power delivery is smoother even from low revs and the increase in power is very noticable along with the additional speed. Even the cooling fans come on quicker!

soo...what is the ball-park figure for this?

Suppose including, ECU, re-map, induction, exhaust....can it be done alone (I have heard the ECU *needs* the exhaust).

break it down for me someone...

By all accounts the 4.2s are alreay well setup/mapped and only small gains are to be had. Not cost effective.
