UJs wont grease evenly!

All this talk of new UJs reminded me that mine need greasing (hasnt been done since I fitted them 1300 or so miles ago).

Trouble is, the buggers wont grease evenly. On each joint, theres one or two caps where the grease just doesnt come out. It pees out of the others.

Ive tried tapping the shaft yokes to close the gap between the cap and spider journal on those which wee grease easily, to try and force it out of the tight ones, but to no avail.

Does anyone have any ideas other than hitting the yokes harder to close the gaps?? Dont really want to do this: damage to diff/wheel bearings!!

That's actually OK. It will 'pee out of' the course of least resistance. But all the grease in the centre of the spider will get distributed evenly when it spins, by centrifugal force.

Good to know, as I had the same question. Need to look into the UJs as well, as have a 'funny' sound since a couple of weeks from the back. Hopefully not the UJs as these were replaced less than 5000km ago, and greased them a lot in the mean time...
