I'm relocating there in a month or so, just wondered if anyone knows of a bike park close to the towers? Been offered a space underground for £750 a year...but would like to avoid that, obviously!

Cheers.

Nick,

I parked the bike in the car park under Waitrose in canary Wharf, admittedly I was only visiting for an hour or so, but I did notice that all the bikes had some kind of tag on them. Also one of the exit lanes has a shortened barrier so bikes can nip past without the barrier having to be raised.

I'd have a quick ride down there and speak with the car park guys to see what you have to do to be able to park your bike in that car park. There were loads of bikes down there so you should be able to get something sorted.

Andy.

I work out there sometimes and always leave my bike in that car park, as it is free. The security guards are a pain as they direct you down the wrong lane whenever you arrive - but apart from that it is ok.

I'm on Marsh Wall, and although I have parking under my building the Council car park is only £5 a day and a short walk across the dock from the main Canary Wharf area.

I work in Cabot Square, I use the car park there, recently they removed all the free parking for bikes so I'm surprised to hear about the Waitrose one being free (isn't that the Jubilee Place one?). It's £2 a day for mine, I never did park outside though cos I'm too worried I'll come back and it won't be there!

In Cabot Square at least, you ride up to the little box they sit in at the gates, give them the cash, and get a tag. I've just upgraded to a permit so I don't have to any more spaces are getting hard to find now so if you pay per day you need to get in early, I changed to a permit so I can't get refused entry!

Same car park I am talking about - sure the last time I was there was around February (I remember it was freezing anyway) and it was free then. As you say - has changed only recently.

Sorry for the bad advice!!

Jubilee Place may have previously been free, not sure...they did recently add motorbike spaces there so could have decided to charge at that point. Only reason I know it's not free anywhere now is that there's a big uproar about it! A few of us in the bike mailgroup at work sent emails to the guy in charge of parking in Canary Wharf and everyone got a standard reply back, which told us the situation with spaces.

P.S. If people really want to park for free, everyone who used to be on free spots has started parking on the traffic light roundabout! (for free)

It is £2 a day in any of the car parks under the towers. As others have said, you just pay on your way in and get a tag. You can leave it for a few days, too, if you want, and will only occasionally get asked to pay for the extra days.

I normaly have a couple of bikes parked under there, and it is pretty safe and secure, as it is manned, filmed, and on a private estate.

Eh, it definitely was not free in February. It is free at the weekends, but they have charged in the week for years.
