I have a slight rattling noise on my new ('98) Chim 400.

It seems to be coming from somewhere under the dash-board/gear level - transmission maybe?
I can hear it in the cockpit quite distinctly when idling, and it seems to go away when accelerating but returns when coasting.

It sounds louder in the cockpit than outside (maybe because the noise of the engine covers it outside.

Any advice?

When taking the dash off my car I found a ball point pen behind the dash.

The gear knob can made a definite rattle if it's not screwed up tight to the collar fitting underneath it.

I'll give it a look over the weekend, but it's not coming from the gear stick, it sounds a bit more rattle-y. Difficult to describe.

When I took the top of my dash, all the bits inside were at best held in place with bits of velcro, and at worst not held down at all... I thought rattles in a TVR was part of the experience... nowadays I only ever drive with the window down so as to let the rattles out and let the wonderful exhause noise in...
