After itching for more noise out of my 450, I decided to put on some ACT manifolds and decat y-piece to go with the cherrybomb system already on there. I started last Wednesday hoping to have it all done by the weekend and enjoying the sunshine - How wrong I was! As Sunday rolled around with still 4 bolts refusing to budge despite using every trick in the book, I realised I may have a problem - this was confirmed when two bolt heads gave up and snapped off. Cursing to the heavens I then put the car back together albeit with a fair bit of blowing from the manifolds and drove the car over to Dave Batty. A really nice chap, he seemed pretty confident that he could get the bolts out without too much drama, until he rang me today to tell me that they're absolutely jammed in there and my worst fear has been realised - the heads need to come out to drill the bcensoreds out! Cursing to the heavens again, i've told him to carry on and am just about to order a new MC1 cam from V8Developments to stick in there whilst the engines open. Does anyone have any other ideas of smallish things I could do to improve performance while the engines open? (before anyone suggests it, the heads are being replaced but not right now as I can't afford it!)

This is surely the most expensive decat in history... But im still smiling because although i'm about to be well and truely broke and destined to eat beans on toast for the next few months, the sun is out, and i'm soon to get back a fully decatted Chim with cherrybombs and a new cam and I can't wait to have a play!

Insulate the trumpet base

Think about new trumpets or just have the base blended or look at mez's plastic thread (somewhere - but I'm biased I like plastic)

Yeah I really can't wait to hear it! I already have the ACT cf superflare trumpets and modified base together with the induction kit. I have noticed that the plenum cover does get very hot though, would this make much of a difference?
