Lambo news: Superleggera Murcie is go!
Hardcore Murcielago is on the way
You might have seen these pictures of a hardcore Murcielago lapping the ‘Ring recently. Guesswork suggested that it was a Superleggera version of the mighty V12 warhorse undergoing some heavy – and no doubt hair-raising – testing at the legendary circuit. We’re just imagining the serious weight-transfer at the bottom of the fox hole now…
Anyway, we’ve had it confirmed to us by an inside source that the rumours are indeed correct and there is a Superleggera spec Murcie on the way. Expect a similar tuning package to the one fitted to the recently released Gallardo Superleggera, with carbon fibre and plastic panels, a stripped out interior and a power boost. Just how many more ponies can be squeezed from the venerable V12 we’ll have to wait and see, but either way, with a decent improvement in the power to weight ratio this will be a fearsome car. Rumours point to a March '08 unveiling.

Who needs two testicles anyway... (I'd sell one for this car).
Love the looks, the spoiler is maybe a slight nod to the anniversary Countach? (as well as being functional) Looks fantastic.

Hamann has created a bodykit for the Murcielago that was Countach-inspired:
It is, well... very sucky...

witch bit is countach inspired?, it just wheels and a spoiler
Don't like the wing :|
they could have integrated it a little better with the styling
Here's another idea of saving weight Lamboghini, dump the AWD like you did with the Diablo SV.
Ever since those killjoys at VAG have taken over they wont let anyone have anything in RWD.
Sure they may actually work now, but what's the point if you can't embarass yourself in front of a crowd of onlookers by oversteering into a streetlight pole while attempting a burnout

Actually Stephen,
it consists of new front and rear spoilers, a two-part rear diffuser, side skirts and there's even supposed to be an airbox somewhere on top, 'though I'm having a hard time spotting it.
On a sidenote, I've seen a RR Phantom with a similar rear wing this weekend; Gumball 3000 was in Amsterdam. I threw up a little inside my mouth when I saw it...

Careful... I said 'nod' something far far away from "inspired by".
I just thought that in the right light and angle it had a certain Countach ish poise about it.
I agree, the wing does look ridiculous.
But it means you can do this without killing yourself
LP640 High Speed Pass Nurburgring.
Good enough for me.
Though to be honest the Murci is never going to be a natural choice for track driving. It's just too big, heavy and expensive to fix.

Purely from a looks point of view, does anyone think the Murci is evolving in the same way as the Countach did? What started as a simple, clean design has, by small degrees, been embellished with various holes/spoilers etc. How long before we get a Murci Anniversary?
I like the idea of reducing the weight, just not sure about where it's going in styling terms.

I dont understand the relevance of this article. 'An insider confirmed' you say...? Well, how about some specifics then - only I read much more about this car on Autoexpress.com a week ago, so why does it take so long to get onto PistonHeads if you have an 'inside man'.... or does he read Autoexpress too.....???
If you have some sort of exclusive, print some exclusive facts. Or copy them of Autoexpress.

IMO the LP640 is the best looking Murcielago yet, so in styling terms I'm not too worried. Can't wait for an all new model though, I just hope they don't go the same way Ferrari has as I'm still not sure about the styling of the 599, especially from the front.
