My trusty Cybershot has seen better days and was looking into replacing it with the Leica D-Lux 3 compact camera. Need a camera for all purposes ie holiday/trips/weddings/family etc as have a Canon 30D for more heavy duty use.

Does anybody have one and are they worth getting over their sister Panasonic models?

The D-Lux 3 is a rebranded Panasonic LX2.

Although I think the Canon Powershot A710IS is pretty hard to beat in that price range.

Leica firmware can be loaded in othe Panasonics to make them pretty much identical. Leica owners don't like to mention it, can't think why.

The Leica has a few advantages over the Panasonic in so much that the firmware is more advanced, the warranty is better and it has a better software package bundled with it, along with a slight improvement of the lens at the edges. So it isn't just a re branded Panasonic, although to be honest it isn't worth the extra cash unless you are a perfectionsist and can spot the small improvements.
