Oh joy

Nice to watch the lady from BRAKE! (we should have a competition to see what that really stands for!) say speed limits were set for good reasons and we must obey them as they know best

I took delivery of a V1 a couple of weeks ago and checked all the speed cameras I could think of...

Elland Bypass, Cleckheaton, Thornton Road, M606 - around 12 in total - Only the one on Thornton Road was actually active !

Still a bl@@dy pain in the @rse though...

The trouble with raw statistics like these are that no one ever bothers to work out if they are significant or relevant. This gives ammunition and justification to those who believe 'speed kills.' They may well be in the case of Thornton Road, I don't know the facts about these accidents, however the information provided in the BBC report is not sufficient justification alone. I think in general people see 'cameras = reduced accidents' headlines which propogates their installation.
