i have a 2.5 v6 mondeo engine on a 51 plate that has done 70k and the 3rd piston is hitting the tappets because the piston has slipped on the crank. the garage says it is unrepairable is this so and would i have a claim agaist ford for repair as it has been regullarly serviced. thank you any help would be greatfull

The piston hasn't slipped on the crank-the crank bearings have spun allowing the crank to flap around and thus allowing the piston to "kiss" the valves!!! Quite a common problme and Ford will tell you to bugger off i would think!! There are no cranks/bearings available.

they certainly wont entertain a claim at this time/mileage in service - sorry wallet out time
