Hi Guys,

I am considering the Taraka upgrade to my Chimaera. Of you guys that have had it done, what do you think of it especially in terms of extra BHP, extra torque, acceleration, speed, mpg, value for money etc...?

Basically, is it worth it? How badly do the insurance companies hit you for having a modified car?

Is there any problems associated with the upgrade ie, reliability?

Many thanks
James )

Surely someone must have some facts about all this?

Cheers

There was a thread on PH recently quoting power outputs from a couple of cars with this upgrade ... I think one was 257bhp at the wheels and the other made 265bhp at the wheels. Compare this to a good standard Griff or Chim 500 at 220-225bhp at the wheels and you can see the increase is definitely going to be one you can feel on the road !

Yep, have a look on the Stealth v Taraka thread.

For me, having the Taraka done was very good value for (lots of) money; especially as my cams had gone anyway.
Vastly improved power, torque, responsiveness, for a slight mpg penalty and loss of some drive-ability at low revs.

Taraka's (if you search enough on here and talk to folk that have done it) add about 10% to std 250 - 270 true fly bhp.

Most seem to be around a true 290 to somthing less that 310 true fly numbers.

It is not really an extreme up grade just a blue print and cam and a rechip.
