Where to take photos at Silverstone this weekend?

Quick question (posted here and P&V) - where are the best spots for getting good shots of the cars at this weekends GT championships.

Am after both some panning shots and some more head-on (or nearly so) 'action' shots of more than one car.

Guesses so far (how many of these are do-able?)
- Inside of Stowe or Club
- 'outside' of Abbey (still inside the circuit)
- Is it worth being in the stands at Becketts / Chapel?
- Ditto Abbey?


Oh...it's on the full GP circuit I understand, and I've never been to S'stone when that's been used before, only the National.

The banking on the entrance and exit of Club is pretty good from what I remember of the Britcar 24hr. For panning again it's up on the bank/grandstand at Abbey when they're into the braking area.

You can get some decent shots at the inside of Bridge heading to Priory aswell.

As you can tell i tend to stay on the right side of the track. Hangar St and Maggots don't offer too much from what I remember. It's also a long walk over that side!

At the start, outside of Copse down the pit straight?

If you want to shoot outside of Copse you need a big lens or a step ladder.

I've only been to the International circuit (medium sized one?). But outside of Priory is a safe bet as the fence is low. There's a big open marshall gate near Farm.


The Southern end I've not been to - hoping to see some stuff down that end on Saturday.

As has been said, outside of Club is about your best chance of getting 'over the fences'. You used to be able to clamber up the banking on the bridge over Hangar Straight but they've boarded that up now.

If there's fencing, shoot through it. Abbey is a great place for that, also the exit of Club.
