The alarm and immobiliser started playing up yesterday and wouldn't let me start the engine, which resulted in atrip home in a pick-up truck with the car on the back!
The alarm fob says its a laserline alarm, not the meta one people usually talk about, (The car is a 93 so this could be why), and I've arranged for an auto electrician to come and remove the alarm at the weekend so I can still use it. I'm not sure whether to get a new alarm fitted as the car is either locked in the garage or being driven, its not usually left parked up anywhere and being the 93 model I can use the key to lock it if needed.

Does anyone have any experience with these alarms and whether it would be worth getting it fixed or whether a new one would be a good investment, I've been quoted £180 by the auto electrician or £240 for a cat 1, but I wouldn't need it for insurance purposes.

Its not a standard TVR alarm, but can help you if its 966v2.

You have tried the other fob (flat batteries) havent you. There should also be a reset ~ the TVR locking unit seems to get out of synch if the battery is low (it looks on mine as tho it had some immob functions in it as well). You can easily disconnect the immobiliser bits.

I have wiring diag of my own ~ but different installers may have done things differently & the laserline immob wires are all black.

The laserline alarm and immobiliser are now out of the car but the car still wont start. The auto-electrician who was working on the car cant work it out either. There seems to be another immobiliser fitted to the car but he's tried every combination of wiring and it still wont fire up, it will only turn over. He's taken the board to see if he can find out anymore about it and hes been using my copy of the bible with the wiring schematics but he doesn't seem to be getting anywhere.

Has he checked that the ECU powers up / coil / fuel pump - the typical things the immob will cut. Work backwards - the wiring is not so complicated & at least its all in the same area on a TVR.

Still no joy with the car, the auto electrician seems to have come to a dead end and I'm considering getting it towed somewhere that might be more specialised. He's coming round tomorrow for one last try, so I was wondering if anyone has any wiring details or anything that might be useful before I start arranging for a tow truck.

Thanks in advance

My alarm wiring (laserline), ECU & Fusebox diagrams all for a 93 car are on line for download. I am not going to publish the whereabouts, and they will be removed soon anyway.

PM if you want to know where they are.

I have an early 93 with a Spal AS100 alarm unit fitted but the imobiliser is still a Meta one. It is all original factory fit as the control unit under the dash has the TVR logo and part numbers on it. I had a problem a few week ago when the engine would not start. I traced the imboliser box to behind the radio panel, here I found the main lead had come out (not being a fantastic fit anyway). Problem solved but I still do have problems with the keyfob not arming the system, it works fine from the door lock. I spoke to Carl who reckons that its a odd alarm to have fitted. Great!!
