Hello all,

apologies for the delay in the announcement. As per every month, the photos entered are to an extremely high standard - making it very dificult to judge.

In judging the photos I was looking at a unique capture, with a minimal amount of obvious computer interpretation and intervention. Alot of the stiched images are excellent, especially the one of Washington square, however it was hard to connect with the photo personally.

Apologies for the brief explanation however I am still in the middle of moving house, I will edit the thread later to give fuller explanations for my choices.

BEST OF THE REST

3rd PLACE

2nd PLACE

1st PLACE

Dammit, I came 4th hehe

Must say though, there were some absolutely SUPERB entries this month! I especially liked the really vivid almost Windows XP style image posted in the last few days in the other thread yes

Oh, I must explain the story behind my photo; mine's the 3rd one down (not placed) of the needles on the Isle of Wight. Took my girlfriend there for valentines weekend as a surprise. Truly great weekend, really good fun. We walked along to the needles it was lovely. Then with about an hour til sunset I thoguht "hang on, I have everything here...tripod, camera, remote release, the works; let's go find somewhere. So I begged a bit and she was moer than happy to wait for an hour for sunset to come. 10 mins before we went, set up, she freezed her ears off shivering lots (but wanted to stay while I took photos, ahhhhh ). Not a cloud in the sky, and I was hoping I was going to get an absolute cracker of a shot. 4 mins before sunset....vroom, clouds like you've never seen! The shot I have above is about the last we saw of the sun that night. I was SO frustrated, I was just waiting for it to touch the horizon and bam....clouds! Ah well, guess we have to go back then....hehehe!!

Well done all. I failed dismally to get my attempt to work properly in time so hats off. Some great creative approaches to this in the entries too as well as the more normal panoramas.

judging by the lack of response from the winner - it'll be nothingness.

Which is good for me really since my camera's off to Canon to get repaired.

Seems that maybe the winner doesn't read these pages much and doesn't realise how it works.

Shall I suggest that if he has not chosen a new topic by 9am Tuesday morning, Rhubarb (eta, with a damn good photo!) in 2nd place shall become judge?

Second wahoo. I really like the technique competitions as I get to try stuff I wouldn't normally, although I did have to get up flippin early for this one. I'd sort of planned what the shot was going to look like in my head (as with the beach huts) but all the way to the coast it was foggy and cold so didn't expect to get anything at all, then all of sudden the fog cleared and I had a great clear sky.

Happy too if the winner hasn't responded and everyone thinks it's a good idea, although no idea what the topic might be.

Cheers Giles

Can't one of us just email him (T4R) and let him know how it works?
(It took me a while to catch on)
