Wotcha

Has anyone tried using an Eibach preogressive 'tender' spring in conjunction with the main suspension spring?

these are relatively new and not the same as the 'helper' spring used to stop a short spring rattling at full extension.

The idea being is that you would get a progressive spring rate so soft for small bumps gradually stiffening up as the spring is compressed over the big stuff.

I had Eibach progressive springs on mine and it seemed to be OK. I now don't, although I couldn't tell you the difference as I have no engine in it at the moment.

The S series had progressive springs as standard. Didn't the later models?

I think they did. The manufacture date on my old Griff springs is consistent with them being fitted from new.

Mine certainly had progressively wound springs on the rear (only) from stock. 97

The precats hadn't but the 500s had. Does anyone believe they are an improvement?

My friend had these secondary keeper springs on a racing chim wearing Penksie's, if I think these are what your saying (about 60/70mm compressed)he ended up junking them.I don't know why and can find out more if your interested.

So all I need is a set of 500 springs then?

What are the standard Griff spring rates and sizes lengths etc anyway?

I've read somewhere on here its 9" long all round and I should be going for 350ish lb/in front 300 rear, is this with nitrons or GAZ or standard shocks and my car also has a rear anti-roll bar ( same as 500's)

If you have Nitrons, it is possible (& preferential IMHO) to fit 10" springs on the rear. I find stronger springs more pleasant personally ~ but it is a can of worms...

I've currently got a set of GAZ's on the car which do have adjustable platforms, so I'm assuming run a longer spring to give a lower rate with reasonable level of preload?
What sort of rate are you running?

AFIK only Nitrons have long enough body/platform to use 10" springs at the rear.

You can squeeze 10" spring on the rear Gaz shocks because you do have to run the spring seats up about 45/50mm with the 9" springs.
As for spring rates, it depends what you are doing with the car but 325/350 with Gaz valving will cover a lot of uses up to sprinting and 9" x 425/450ish works quite well on the front end.
