Its not funny standing by the side of the road. M6 J10, clutch cable on the 200 snapped, eek I waited 2 hours on the hard shoulder tumbleweed, watching everyone crawl by at 4 mph. I dont know how may thousands of cars stared at me from the slip road or the motorway but only 2 asked if I was ok and 1 (lovely angellady)offered me her bottle of water as it was so hot, I heard lots of laughing, so to those I wish them a breakdown the day after they forgot to renew the recovery service.

Nice man eventualy got me home. Moral? Tasmins dont like slow moning traffic.

Just thought I would share this with you all.

Had a slightly embarassing sit at on the hard shoulder in the chim a couple of years ago.

I'd been in a rush all day, dropped off the hire car picked up the chim from its service and jumped in and headed home down the motorway. I'd gone about 10 miles whne i realized the fuel guage was on empty !!!! ok i should have checked, i didnt even think about it but it was 3/4 full when i dropped it off !!!
So on cue the traffic slowed to a crawl and after 30 mins at in traffic i ran out of fuel...

Sat waiting for rac, and go a few waves and honks, then a scabby old transit pulled past really close and shouted
Tosser out of the window and chucked the contents of a flask in my direction ..WTF.. fortunetly their aim was about as high as their IQ and most of it went down the side of the van hehe

As you say when I got home I had a fully working TVR on the drive... they still had a scabby transit and an empty flask.

( having said that i've now got a scabby transit as wellhehe)

Why did you need to sit on the hard shoulder with a snapped clutch cable?

I will never forget waiting for 4 hrs on the M5 to get towed home after my fuel pump failed. No warning whatsoever, just died and coasted to a halt.

And I ditched the clutch cable in favour of a hydraulic system some years ago, got fed up with it breaking.

Got to Oswestry, then came back, no need to stay, and did not get to horseshoe pass, yes I can drive without the clutch but not through several miles of start-stop traffic, starter motor would have been next.

I hate slow, morning traffic too. Or was it slow-moaning traffic; or even slow, mooning traffic? - Streaky

It's very embarrassing to sit in a broken TVR loaded with 3 weeks worth of holiday baggage, pretending that you always pull over on the M2 at 5am with smoke, oil, water, steam, and several other unidentified fluids boiling out from under the bonnet and elsewhere. You've got to make it look like you always do that... er no, perhaps you should just look pleased that you're going to have a brand new engine in about 4 weeks time, and that your holiday was an inconvenience, and that you love the witty anecdotes of tow-lorry drivers about other plonkers they have rescued just there, just out of cellphone range. I reckon the worst bit is when it's being winched onto the flatbed and your wife is snapping photos like a tourist, so she can show dinner-guests, and revisit the humiliation an infinite number of times in the future. Does this happen to Toyota owners? Please someone say yes...
