Holkham Hall 'raid' , Sunday 27th May.
Discussion
Well now that Mosler's over and done, its time to get started on this one !
Here's the basics :
Date : Sunday 27th May (standby date 10th June)
I thought that it would be nice to arrive at Holkham around 12.00 -12.30 giving us the whole afternoon to take in the delights of Holkham Hall and its other attractions (website here). If the weather is reasonable, it might be nice to take a picnic or packed lunch as there is loads of room (and tables I think) around the parkland area to eat before planning what you wish to do for the rest of the day. There is a Cafe' on site also for those not wishing to do the picnic bit, but bear in mind its a Bank Holiday weekend !! Once there the rest of the day is yours to do as you please. The prices for the Hall and Bygones museum are on the website. There are also a number of walks around the grounds on the website, and if your very energetic, you could always walk down to the beach.
Meeting Points
I think a good main meet up point could be Swaffham market place as its very easy to find (just head for the middle of the town), and its only just of the A47. From here we would take the A1065 to Fakenham, then the B1105 to Wells-next-the-Sea along the coast road a couple of miles and into Holkam estate.
Meeting Times
I would suggest leaving Swaffham at 11.15am, so meet around 11.00am. There is also a possibilty of another RV at Fakenham, although the only place I have found is a Shell garage forecourt on the roundabout where the A1065 meets the A148, so space would be a problem.
I have been in contact with Holkham and they have no problems with our visit, and can possibly provide a designated parking area for us. They have requested an idea of numbers nearer the time though.
So there you go, that's the plan such as it is. If you would like to come along could you either add yoursef to this thread or email me through my profile. Any questions ask away.

May I suggest approaching Holkham along the coast road from the other direction. Being a Bank Holiday and especially if it is nice traffic will be qued from the Hall turning back to Wells waiting turn right into the Holkham Beach car park. So maybe taking the Burnham Market road from Fakenham would be better?
Anyway, I'm planning on coming along so count me in.
Can you put me down for 2 people in 2 cars, please?
As we will only be 15 mins away from Holkam that weekend, we will probably be first to arrive.
We shall walk out to the beach in the morning and meet you all in the Hall grounds about midday. Good idea about designated parking.
Tell them I will be first there in the Ultima

Burnham Market also gets very busy.
Lets face it though, if the weather is like this that Bank holiday it will be very busy all over Norfolk. I would allow extra time for the journey, which ever way you go. I have travelled up there on Bank holidays before and it can be pretty dire. Most of the congestion will be along the coast road, Sheringham and Cromer being the worst affected.

If you're going to go in via Burnham you may as well make a drive of it and go a bit cross-country, the B1145 is a nice quiet road to stretch the legs of a car and goes roughly in the right direction.
Put me down as a maybe for the 27th and probably for the 10th!

Hi Phil,
I was assuming the North gate off the coast road. Thats the way they always signpost to the entrace. I,m assuming you are both coming along ?

I'm sure thats right. Isn't the South entrance mainly for coaches?
I always go in through the north and out through the south.
