PS3- playing PS2 games

My boss has bought a PS3 for his son and he wants to play his old PS2 games on it. Problem is that he currently does not have internet at his house so cannot just connect to the PS3 'marketplace' and download it through the PS3. Is it possible for him to download the appropriate software via a PC and save it to a USB drive to plug it in to the PS3 when he gets home?? That's what he had been told by the shop assistant at time of purchase but a quick Google has revealed nowt as I guess 99.9% of people who splurge on a PS3 have broadband.

it is possible yes, try searching on the PS3 site for the version 1.70 update.

Cheers, seems he can get v1.7 on disc so that should solve it.
