Whilst my car is in the garage having work done, I've asked them to put a new roof seal on the hard removable section. The old one was starting to come away from the pannel especially at the ends. I can't see any other reason other than when it goes into the boot its such a tight fit it pulls the seal away aventually breaking it. Admittadly I strugled getting it into the boot attall at first but evan now I know the way it should go it still pulls on the seal.
Any advise would be greatfully appreciated!

I have the leven roof panel bag. Thought it would prevent the seal from coming off but it doesn't. Instead of the bood carpet pulling the seal off the bag pulls it off because of the tight fit!
So now I use the plastic bag/bin liner trick and it works without fail. So my recommendation is to go with the plastic bag/bin liner and use money saved on petrol.

Cheers David, but that doesn't look like the one. There was definitely talk of screwing the rubbers on.
I was a little dubious about it at the time, so want to check out the details before I have a go. One of mine has already been re-glued on, bit that was the one that came right off.

Anyone remember the topic about this where someone had screwed the strips on? I'd like to find it, as one of mine came right off today. Bloody pain.
That'll be me then
The metal moulding for the rubber is screwed to the front edge of the panel. Remove the last screw at each end after peeling back the rubber. Punch a hole through the rubber at the point where the screw hole is. The rubber is a hollow tube, so enlarge the hole in the outer wall to a slit about 5mm long. Use some strong waterproof glue or Sikaflex to restick the rubber back into the metal carrier then put a small washer on the screw you took out earlier. Push the screw and washer through the slit in the outer part of the rubber tube, locate into the screw hole and tighten up. The washer will help to hold the inner wall of the rubber in the metal groove, and hold it while the glue sets. I did this and never had another problem with the rubber pulling out. I hope I've described it properly!

Ah-ha. Thanks Nubbin. Had a good look at it yesterday and thought it must be something like that. Did you re-seal the slit in the outer edge of the rubber with black silicon/windscreen sealant or just leave it? Jist a bit concerned that it might tear.
Hey Andrew, I saw you in Brizzle a few weeks ago. Lovely sunny day, we were sitting outside a pub in the main bit of town by the big area with the fountains and stuff when you came past. We'd just driven over for the beer festival on the Saturday evening and it was nice to see (and hear coming!) another Tam, and with the top down.
BTW consider Nubbins tip. Looks dead simple to do, so I'm going to have a go.

IIRC, I managed to push the screw through after making a smallish hole - it may not be necessary to cut it, depending on which screw/washer you use. I didn't seal it afterwards, but it might be a good idea to use some Evo-stik to glue the edges together.

Thanx very much for the pics Nubbin, looks a bit more permenant solution than the old bin liners, I will have to try that one! Where can you pick the bits up from?
Nicky stickers on ebay sell carbon fibre look vinyl nice and cheap. Just cut out the carpet sections and stick the vinyl in place.
- and I did get two bald spots on the roof panel where the cover over the lights presses on the mohair....
Thought I sort out my roof panel into the boot niggle this weekend.
B&Q garden sheet 1.5m sq with handles folded in half and sown 2 sides by mother in law.(£5) This holds and protects panel from luggage scratches and it slides in easier.
Unscrew the boot damper and add 3small washers both ends. This lifts the boot higher.
Success !!!
