dash display...

After fitting my HID lights I am encountering an occasional problem- not sure if linked though...
According to advice given here I uprated the dipped beam fuse to 20 amps
Sometimes when I switch lights on now the circular leds on the dials of the display glow very bright and then get totally dim- numeric display not affected at all.. luckily leds come on again normal next time (mostly) and always when lights off????????????
How can this be linked ? Is that a sort of OVER current drawn by the HID???
Of course I have not changed the ilumination setting on the dash setup???
Or is it just a sign that the dash pod packs up????

I have the same, only noticed it after fitting HID's. Try turning the lights on before you start the car, I have found that it sometime works.
Let me know if you find a scientific reason for this to happen.

I have just had HIDS fitted and are experiencing the same problems with the backlit part of the dash pod.

It flickers from full brightness, to half brightness to completely off.

Was a solution ever found to this?

I've had HID's for over two years without this problem. HID's use less power so not sure why you need to upgrade fuses.

Mine and the ones mentioned earlier in the thread are aftermarket kits and mine advise upgrading to a 20amp fuse. I left a 10 in mine and it blew so I swiftly changed to a 20amp.
