K7 GSXR1000...... Slow, ain't they?!
Discussion
My god!
I was on the way home, with a guy on the Gixer. Well, I let him past to undertake one of those things with 4 wheels (honestly, I did!) and he was off...jesus. I know know exactly wehat you guys mean when you say they are madness. This thing left me for dead....amazing.
Now, if I was on the R1.....!!! Seriously though, too much for the road, isn't it?!

Depends on what you want from the bike - loads of torque in any gear, crazy straight line acceleration? Problem is, to make use of the performance on the public road, it helps to have a screw loose. All that power builds up speeed very quickly and mistakes using power out of corners are much easier to make. All of this is why I have been considering a 600 but the thousands effortless power feels great so I'm finding it difficult to let go of! Also, the 600 is more flickable but not by a massive amount - in other words, my K6 thousand is pretty damn good. I reckon on the whole, a 600 or 750 would be more fun in the long run simply because you can thrash it and flick it around the twists and turns. I wish I could borrow a modern 600 for a month to make up my mind once and for all.
Modern litre bikes, I suspect are just too much for me. I had a '99 'Blade, and woudl regularly max it out on the way ome from work, and wring its neck everywhere else.
This did not exactly result in gentle reults, even on a 120bhp 185kg machine.
I know I'd do the same on a 180bhp170kg bike, and that this would kill me, or send me to jail, which is why I had to switch down to my BMW.
I miss the performance, but I know I could not hold back with that sort of power available.

I considered a new GSXR1000 last year because having the girlfriend on the back of the 600 meant you didn't get that phenomenal acceleration that you're used to. We tried the thou and she found it difficult to hang onto and didn't like the fact that it would wheelie off the throttle at 115 leps in 3rd gear. I kind of enjoyed it, but for the road, well ringing them out isn't all that sensible, lol, but you've got to love them for being bonkers.
I've just purchased an RS250 and on my ride home yesterday (after collecting it) concluded that I would probably be safer on the road with the R1 I used to have. Yes big bikes have loads of power, but I find on the small bike I become obsessed with not losing speed as it takes longer to get it back. Hence yesterday became a flurry of 12,000rpm, blue 2stroke smoke, tap dancing on the gear lever and a manic grin when I pulled up at the house. It's easier to ride in a more relaxed fashion on a bike, torquey bike. That said, I am really, really looking forward to this summer now...
