or is anybody else actually looking forward to next weekends GP?
Until i saw your post i didn't know it was the GP next weekend.
I guess that says a lot about my level of interest. I'll watch it, but the time when i looked forward to a GP for several weeks before the event are long gone.

this has to be the first time I have been for several years now....

It's crazy that this season has got to be the best so far for competitive racing, yet I haven't seen one race, other than clips on the news.
I've read about it in naughtysnort, and odds and sods on the forums, but maybe, just maybe next weekend I'll sit down and watch my first race of the year.
What I'm really looking forward to is rounds 3&4 of the SCSA V8 Trophy at Rockingham at the end of June. It seems like sooooo far away, but I bet I'm still running around like a headless chicken the week before to get the car set up ready to go.

must get round to seeing this (it's only 5 miles up the road after all!)....

June 24th.
Better still - buy a car, get out there!!!
As you're a driver, you'll probably think like me "yeah, looks interesting, fancy a go" then you do it, and it's "man what a rush!"
It's difficult to describe, but one things is for sure, if you get offered a full chat two-seater ride, it's nothing like it. Being in the passenger seat is partially scary, partially "too loud man!", not being in control, a bit like being on a fast fairground ride, when you spot half of the bolts holding it together are either missing or loose, just as you start your ride, and there's no way out!!
Three turns taken either near flat, or flat, and turn 4 where you have to knock a bucket of speed off, braking right to the apex through the turn (left foot).
Rob.
There are quite a few cars available for hire. You could buy one for between £10-20K complete with spares, ready to run (subject to painting it in your colours). There may be a cheaper one about too (Pete Wilkinson was selling his which was the Crash.net car originally driven by Jon-Jon Higgins).
Before you can run, you have to undertake Rookie Training, and be able to lap "on the pace" for at least half a dozen laps solo. On the pace = 40second/lap which is equivalent to about 110% of fastest race lap last year.
Rookie Training costs circa £1250+VAT, and you'd need to contact the series organisers (www.scsaracing.com) or the BRSCC (Drew Furlong) to see when another session is being run.
They are planning to run another session sometime soon, as there were three people who didn't get through the last one, and they are all keen to complete it.
If you want any more info, give me a shout.
