could someone help? i`ve just done the most stupid thing, i was trying to do the basic clean of the stepper motor thing and while undoing it, first turn was the wrong way and it snapped off leaving the theaded bit still in and the internal spring thing dangling out. What a doofuss, feel like crying. Can you help? need to know how to get it out and where i can get a new one quick, i live in Lincoln by the way and it being a bank holiday is making things even worse.

Hah! What a coincidence! I'm in the process of fettling Al's (Burrianas) Griffith and sorting out his many, varied and multitudinous niggly problems. Still not completely happy with the general feel of the engine and its occasional tendency to stall, I went to check the stepper motor only to find that it had previously been over-tightened and the body was cracked all the way round, nicely leaking air. It wouldn't screw out without breaking off completely.
Not the easiest of parts to source on a bank holiday weekend. As a matter of interest, Land Rover dealers want £135 for the part! (Ripon didn't have one in stock anyway). Average price elsewhere is £70-£90. Lucas part No. 73312. Its lucky Al wasn't off hooning tomorrow!
