Oh and I've got £25,500 to spend on one with full history also if you're thinking of selling.

Bloody hell, and you lot moan about us dealers trying to nick cars ! A good 100k mls RHD turbo 4 is (very circa) £30k in the trade!

Looks like this car is trade money then...and it has full history...

www.pistonheads.com/sales/158475.htm

I wonder whether they may be heading in that direction on that basis.... I also see that Karl Virdi is selling one at £34k...

Anyone know who the trader was that sold the red car that Paul Stephens is now selling?...Seems like the vendor failed to mention the frontal that the car had had.....

Is this guy being optimistic too?

What's the trade for these?..Retail appears to be well above that

I`m not sure he is. I think 959`s are a circa £100k car and to be honest I`m not sure you`d be that tempted paying over twice the price of a 993 turbo and lord knows how many times the money to keep it on the road. Definately a talking point down the pub but whilst it was the monkey`s pips in the 80`s I`ve always felt that the probuction models caught it up in the 90`s.

Just a personal view and probably largely founded on the fact that whilst I`ve never minded paying to keep a car on the road I`m deeply upset paying huge money for bits that ordinarily shouldn`t be expensive, (I still remember paying £600 each for a couple of coils on a Ferrari that, were they on a Fiat, would have been £20 a pop tops!).

I don`t know if I`d want to write out a cheque for £100k for a 959 to put it into stock. One of those cars that with so few on the market you can ask whatever you want but....

LOL - didn't know that ...must be overpriced then....

Henry - you're right re the 959 IMHO - but that does leave out the fact that it is an iconic car and I'd own one at the right money on that basis. Talk to all those F40 owners who pay £10k for a tank change....

I guess you've driven a 959?...not that impressive to my mind - in comfort trim at least and at legal-ish speeds and back-to-back with a 964RS...

The difference is the F40 hasn`t been overtaken (pardon the pun) by lesser priced production models. If you want a car that despite it`s size feels like a go-kart (with a slightly bigger than usual lawnmower engine in the back) then you`ll be needing an F40. How much better is a 959 than a 993 Turbo 4 costing bundles less both to buy and to run.

yes I paid £32,500 trade for a 97 R @ 105k 2 years ago. However, it had had £15,000 spent in the previous 12 months or so (at the place next to Autobahn in Coventry) on a full engine rebuild, turbos (reconditioning), clutch and so on. It was a very nice car - silver with Rubicon interior (it was parked by my race truck at Rockingham if anyone was there?) and drove superbly well - but imagine if you'd bought it at 90-odd thousand miles a year earlier (even at £30,000) and you ended up with those bills!!

You get what you pay for!
