Wicked stuff. Just ask anyone following me today around the peak district. BP Ultimate pops and bangs but this stuff is something else!!! Even pops and bangs between gear changes. And just 97p a litre.

I was in front of you and I could hear the banging, mind you thinking about this, if I was in front, then what does that say about the BP in mine. clap

I love it when people say that... 97p per litre is still mega money to pay for petrol..

I found it made my Scooby quicker but rougher when I had it ..... as a result I have never used it in the Griff - always stuck to Optimax, or as it now is V Power for the alleged cleaning properties .... probably wasting my money but the car does run well

Only £0.95/pl down this way too (was only 0.91 a couple of months ago )

It's all I use unless I have to find something else quick, I found that BP Ultimar$e being only 97octane made my car run a bit funny and it cost £1.034/pl!!!! Rip off merchants in Northhampton.

Tesco 99octane all the way. Pops, bangs, as stated even between some gear changes and exhaust flames too

Used it in the other car for ages... no problems whatsoever....
tried it in the Tuscan 2S Conv.... played havoc with the engine.. it ran unbelievably badly,
felt like it was missing, you'd put your foot down and it was 50/50 if it would pull away
now, in 2 secs, 5 secs... truly dreadful. Drained the petrol out.. filled it with Optimax.. problem
disappeared never to return! Spoke to the dealer about it who finished my story for me as soon
as I mentioned Tesco 99! Now it's BP or Shell only for the TVR.

Puma still loves the stuff though!!

Forgot to say... as for pops and bangs... with either BP or Shell I can
give an oap a heartattack/set a car alarm off at 20 paces!!!!

You know it's bad when it's SO loud that you're ALMOST embarrassed!

BP is 97 octane though isn't it? V_Power is 99 plus additives, Tesco's is 99.

Little known fact is that Sainsbury's fuel is all BP, same refinarys. They signed a deal in 2004. Sainsbury's BP superunleaded fuel is 3p per litre cheaper than the BP garage 200 yards away for me.

V-Power though is like having a chilli up the tailpipe

Useful thread. A;ways use V-Power but was wondering whether or not to try the others to see if they are better.

Think I'll stick with Shell.

The only advice I can give is to fill up at a busy station, your engine hates stagnant petrol.
I only use BP Ultimate/ Shell V-Power/Tesco 99……….. (it runs better on Tesco 99 imoh)

I was advised too stay away from Tesco petrol by a mechanic, but seeing as I work where “they” make the stuff & there is no difference apart from the additives….. I will form my own opinion.

Don't Tesco's own 25% of Greenenergy who supply them their fuel. I think I also read that they are the countries largest (or largest supermarket) provider of fuel.

Oh dear.... There is no point in putting high octaine fuel in your normal vehicle unless it is specifically designed to make use of it. If you put high octaine fuel in a normal engine you loose power as the burn time is slower..... Need high compression or forced induction for high octain and an ignition system that can map for it!!!

Eh? My Cerbera's manual says use super unleaded only. I don't have a fancy button to detune it for 95 octane...

Isn't the 4,5 AJP 10.75:1 compression ratio. I'd say that was pretty high
