Metal elephant attack
Discussion
Elephant one very nice, although depending on how the reflections were, may have been improved by dropping the view slightly to get the reflected elephants too! Very 'natural' shot though, like it!
Metal one...can't decide...difficult subject, as the contrast was always going to be a bugger for getting any detail. Am thinking that, composition-wise, a closer crop might have worked better, as may a portrait shot...

I agree with havoc regarding the molten metal picture - difficult subject.
The elephants I like, although I did find the central area a little confusing until I realised that there was a baby one there, too. ON the whole, though, a very nice shot - the colours especially are nicely muted and contribute to the laid-back feel.

I need to start with I'm no expert, and this is the first time I've not posted in this area.
The elephant one seems a little washed out to me the greens in the bottom right are great but the tree line in the back gound are lost in haze (and I think) in a dust cloud. I agree with the others on the composition a little more water (reflection) would have been good if it was possible? I looks like over hanging trees creeping in the right may have stopped that??
BUT... I prefer the first one, I think the exposure is about right, yeah the high dynamic range does cause difficulty.. a little cropping might help to remove some of the black area, but I like the composition
the only thing I would say is you appear to have lost some of the detail in the surrounding area. what were you focusing on?? or is that my screen or the image re-sizing???
Thanks for posting them I love looking at everyone elses pictures, hopefully soon I will have some worthy of posting... Chris

Bit delayed due to unforseen trip to the local hospital.
But just to says thanks for the comments, much appreciated.
I know what you mean about pic1, lots of black but not sure how I could crop without lossing some of the detail at the top right.
The elephant, was on boat so could not get futher back to get reflection. I just liked the lazy laid back feel with the colours and dust thrown up etc.
Thanks
Cheers
