Which one do I want:

Canon Powershot S3 IS?
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7?
Sony DSC-H2?

For a newbie, interested in learning more about photography but mainly I just want good quality, sharp pictures. Price is irrelevant, I will be buying in the USA where they are near enough the same.

Yep, have to agree. When I went in to Jessops for a touchy feely session I knew I didn't want the 350D. Fortunately someone on here was buying a 5D and so I managed to pick up a 20D at a good price At the time the 350D was realy well received in the mags etc

Have a play with all three cameras in Jessops and see which is the most intuitive in terms of layout, which is the best fit and which feels like the right camera for you. You'll probably have it for a while so the fit is an important issue
