That'd be a shame. It's the 75th Le Mans this year isn't it? Pity not to celebrate that.

The 'handy information' link on the official Le Mans website has not been activated yet. This had all the drivers parade, concert details and was just as late last year.

Fingers crossed.

cooperlola, My son and I will be driving Calais to Le Mans on the Friday morning/early afternoon, and we're staying in the centre of Le Mans. We've been caught out before by the road closures ahead of the parade, so we're hoping to get to Le Mans earlier than before, probably by using the A route rather than the N138. Do you know what time the road closures will be set up this year in Le Mans town centre? Thanks. R.

Normally about an hour before the start. In case of problems, my own recommendation is to head for the station and park in the big car park there and walk up the hill (the station is a building site but the car park on the South side of the railway is open). It takes about 20 minutes on foot but saves any hassle.

A friend of mine (who's French but lives in England) once parked his MGB GT on the side of the road along the parade route on the Friday lunchtime. When he got back, all the barriers were up and the road was closed. He ended up taking part in the parade!

D,

Thanks for the info. I know the station area and heading for it would make a reasonable plan b assuming we're caught up in the road closures. I think I know the temporary road system that's put in place, and coming to Le Mans from the north I know how to get to the station. Hoever, best for us to get to the hotel before 16:00 I think, which should be doable.

I'm more interesting in the questions:

1) Will Audi take as many fireworks this year (they let of shed loads Sunday night last year!).
2) Will Peugeot take as many in case they win?

Well, about 3 years ago Jamiroquai played on an Audi sponsored stage in the infield, between the New Maison Blanche and Ford Curves. (Still got my free audi Jamiroquai Le Mans T-shirt! Great Night!)

Last year, The Charlatans played on the outfield side at the bottom of the Dunlop Bridge, near the funfair.

So this year, who knows!!??
