Transporting my wheels back from Silverstone Performance last week after getting new ones fitted, the one in the passenger seat rested against the door leather underneath the window. The result of this (on my tan leather trim) was a black scuff mark which after attacking with

- 303 cleaner,
- window lean,
- Cif,
- lighter fluid,
- nail varnish remover and
- Glyptone leather cleaner, has only resulted in the black turning to a strange light red colour!!

NB I didnt use them all at once!!

The area around the offending mark is lovely and clean - as good as new hehe

Any suggestions of how I can get this out?

cheers

Graham

I'm afraid it sounds like youve bu&&ered it! The black is only sprayed onto the leather and nail varnish remover is the perfect stuff to remove it with!
You'll need some black leather dye to restore the colour and I'd advise doing the complete section of the seat around the mark.
I'd recommend Woolies for the dye (www.woolies-trim.co.uk). Its brilliant stuff and can be applied with a sponge or, for larger areas I always airbrush it on. Get a kit with the leather cleaner, dye and sealer in. Its fabulous stuff and is the correct way to do the repair. I've restored many interiors using Woolies products and it is quite simply the best stuff around.

Try LTT (www.lttsolutions.net), when I bought my griff it came with a nice biro streak on the passenger seat put there by another prospective buyer at the time. With some advice/product from them I got rid of it completely. I also had a very good chat with a technician there about looking after car leather in general. They specialise in all leather care including automotive, especially for fast red cars like we got! hehe

Sorry Michael Iv confused you Im afraid: the leather is tan and the tyre left a black mark. My cleaning eforts have changed the black mark to a light shade of off-red and the tan leather around the mark is lovely and clean as Iv not only cleaned the black ark but the normal bits next to it...

sorry about that...

Hi Graham,if you struggle and as a last resort I can get a special solvent that gets ink and super glue off leather so give us a shout if you don't fix it locally.Regards,Dave.

Im easy to confuse! And I clearly can't read properly either....
In that case, I'd still go for the 'Woolies' leather cleaner. It is remarkable stuff. When I first got my 850, the previous owner had been carrying gearboxes around on the front seat! I bought a full kit to refurbish the leather interior and the cleaner alone removed every trace of the ingrained black oil and grease. Handy stuff to have, knowing that it can only be good for the leather and is designed not to harm it.

What about a bit of tan shoe polish? There are a few scuffs on our seats, and I was thinking of using a bit of cream shoe polish to cover them up. Has anyone else tried it?
