Concerns over UK New car Safety ...
Discussion
Perhaps if the driving test actually educated drivers on how to drive, rather than how to pass a mickey-mouse test, then people wouldn't need to rely upon these electronic safety nets.
I'm sure the increase in activities such as tailgating are due to idiots who think that having ABS and ESC etc.. on their car means they can stop faster, failing to realise that the tyres still only have a finite amount of stopping power and that their reaction times will still be poor because they're too busy thinking about something else.

With the current enthusiasm for potty schemes tangentially connected to something about the environment... how many think-of-the-childreners would take public transport if they were denied access to cars without the usual raft-load of safety features?
I especially disagree with his comment about younger drivers and safety aids. The fact that there are potentially drivers out there who've never driven without ABS, TC and ESP scares me.
What would my driving be like if, every time I'd made a mistake in the last six years, the car concerned had just computed its way out of it rather than sliding, wheel locking and generally handing out unavoidable lessons in car control?

Ban the lot of it , teach idiots to drive , if i could i would disable even the ABS/EBD/CBC etc etc on the vectra , if that crap wasnt there the car wouldnt have ended up in a field . is there one to stop the dopey pricks driving in the dead centre of a single lane road ? one day im not going to bother reacting to one of these chimps and hit them head on .
