My mates turbo has "turbo" lettering behind the rear seats - can see it when you drop the seats down. Mine doesn't and was just wondering why.
Was this part of some interior option (his has silver bits on dash, handbrake etc, mine doesn't)

Yup thats the one. Didn't think this was an option on its own, so perhaps part of a small ali pack or something ?

I wondered about this too.

Is it something to do with the model year? Did the earlier cars have it and the later not?

What MY is yours and your mates?

Also wondered why they did not put the Turbo inscription below the cubby hole infront of the gear lever, as per Boxster?

Could be.

I went to see a MY01 when I was looking for mine and it had the inscription at the back, but my MY02 doesn't.

I also seem to remember the MY01 car not having BOSE and I know this came standard with the MY02 cars. The BOSE system gets 2 little speakers in the corners of the same parcel shelf. Wonder if it might have something to do with that as well.

The only turbos that you should be concerned with really are the two that sit on top of your engine, and make your car go extremely fast.

as far as i am aware this item has never been fitted as standard and was not an option linked with an ali pack etc

the bose sub sits behind the seats and perhaps takes up some room on the rear deck.

if you want one, order it from carnewal and install it yourself.

as for the insignia on the "batwing" at the bottom of the centre consul, there has never been a turbo insignia placed there. the only insignia in the turbo range that has this is the end of line "turbo S"

and as Simon so astutely pointed out, the two blowers attached to the exhausts are the ones we all need to concentrate on

in 1993 Porsche spent a lot of money and embroidered "3.6 turbo" on the back of my rear seats. By the time they built your car they could no longer afford it as it ate too far into their profit margin

Is it just a sticky-back decal then ?

Surely this is just a turbo copy of the GT3 insignia that is fitted where the rear seats normally are?
