I run the tyre pressures as 36F 44R cold as per Porsche recommendation.

Should I contemplate reducing these now that summer is almost here? I imagine that the rears will get close to 50 on a hot day with some enthusastic driving.

Mine's a C2 Coupe with H&R coilovers on 18" wheels.

I got a bit confused by the 993 tyre pressure issue. Having checked the service manual, I noted two different sets for 17" wheels (36/36 and 36/44) depending on whether you were running summer or winter tyres.

I went with 36/44 but felt that the car seemed very skittish and never very settled. I tried letting some air out of the rears and swapping to 36 all round and it feels altogether more composed now - a substantial improvement.

I'm still not sure what I ought to be using but I know which feels better to me.....

I also run my tyres (17-in wheels) at 36 psi all round. I checked the manual recently and thought it was recommending 44 psi on the rears, so hastily put them up to that pressure. On a longish journey (100+ miles), I found the mpg dropped from an average of 24 mpg to 21 mpg, and the car certainly seemed skittish. After re-reading the manual, I dropped back to 36 psi on the rears and the mpg went back to 24, with the car feeling much more comfortable. I don't really do enough mileage to worry too much about tyre wear, but the 3 mpg difference in fuel consumption plus the comfort seemed a significant reason to stay with 36 psi all round.

I run 18"s at 32Front and 36Rear, set cold....even tyre wear across the tread.

That's interesting! I've just had to replace my 18" rears on my C4 and the centre of the tyres were on the limit but the edges had about 2.5mm left. The tyre pressure was 33lbs! I thought this sounded really as I was hoping to run a little less pressure. Would wheel alignment cause this problem? I just thought high tyre pressure caused wear in the middle of a tyre. She's going in for an alignment at ProMax next month with the service anyway, as they are doing an offer for 50 quid if done with a service or other work.

yep, agree with Paul

36/36 sounds like the PSIs for 17s on all year round tyres like I had on my C2
