Some time ago... on top gear, Captain Slow said he was convinced the best roadster in the world would be a new MX-5 with a nice Alfa V6 up front.

Has anyone actually done this? I find the idea very very attractive.

I doubt it, the new alfas are all FWD the old ones had transaxles so mating a RWD box isn't easy, no doubt a suitable model could be found or an adapter plate made but there are far easier options.

There's a guy on the PPC forum that's made an adapter to mount an Alfa V6 to a Type 9 'box which could do it. Think they're iron blocks though, no?

Would not surprise me. They've tried everything else. But a blower adds enough punch.

Not seen an Italian engine in any, have seen a mock Ferrari fron and rear on one. (Don't try it at home, kids.)
