le mans newbie needs basic help!
Discussion
hi all
sorry if this is a repeated question. seem far to much detail here, you obviously all know too much!!!
basically im off to le mans, 5ppl 3 cars booked on the 7am Friday speedferries.
We have the most important thing the ferry but nothing else. Should we prebook tickets and camping and if so where. Many people have told us you can get tickets on the door (dont want to risk if may sell out) and have said we will find somewhere to camp.
What do you reckon. Should we just turn up or sort out now? If now any ideas or links would be much appreciated.
Look forward to seeing you there.

There are large areas specifically for camping around the circuit. You need a permit which allows access for one vehicle to enter the site. It does not matter how many people are inside! Find a spare piece of ground, put up the tent, open a beer and light the barbecue. Each person then needs to purchase a general admission ticket which are available on the gate which allows access to the circuit itself and the village area with all the bars, restaurants, shops etc.
You're bound to source a campsite pass but if not, consider a campsite outside the circuit, you can always kip in the car during the race, last year had a total of 2 hours sleep, if that. Slept well on the other days in an off-site campsite. Taught me that provided I can get a crossing, Le Mans is always doable.
Check out the ClubArnage.com sale and swap forum before you try ebay as there are some tickets starting to appear.
There is also a suggestion that you can again now buy Beausejour (campsite) tickets from the ACO (they run the event - www.lemans.org) at face value so you don't have to shell out for someone else's profit margin!
You need one General Admittance pass per person and then a campsite pass per vehicle, this will give you 7m x 5m of camping space - or possibly more depending whether the ACO enforce pitch sizes this year!
Lots of folk will tell you that you will be able to buy BSJ tickets on the gate when you arrive, the word from the ACO seems to be that they are running short so I would try to get yourself sorted before you go.

Ebay prices are about £80 for Houx Annexe, £150 for Maison Blanche (but they are quite rare), £50 for Beausejour and there's ONE ticket for Houx (not annexe) going for £205 currently, with 5 days on the auction to run.
Guess who's just spent a few days sorting his late trip out
