Carrera GT at the ring, against an E30 M3...

Funniest film i have seen for ages, shows what happens when a good driver in a vastly outclassed car follows someone who doesnt know how to in an amazing car. Pretty interesting.

im not so sure....i think the guy in the GT is a smoother driver taking better lines but just not pushing it....the bmw seems to miss lots of apex's and is only hanging on due the dude in the GT not being willing to take risks and through it into the armco
Just my opinion ofcourse :-)

Would I care about the crappy Beemer if I was in the CGT?
I think the CGT is driven in a very smooth manner. There's just a few corners, where the driver struggles a bit to keep it neat. However, he appears to follow the old rule: start slowly and build speed gradually. The guy in the Beemer is fully on the limit and demonstrates very little control over his machine.

I have to agree. The CGT looks pretty well driven to me, certainly well within the limits of the car and driver. The BMW looks like one of those cars that scare you to death at the ring, never sure if he really is going to try to belt up the inside, sliding as he goes. I wonder if he could maintain that pace without the CGT to follow?
I've only ever been round on bikes, and if everyone followed the top advice on davyboy's profile it would be a lot less scary!

I don't know when the video was filmed but the CGT owner raced a gt3 cup car in the VLN series last year and I can tell you that if it was him driving it was well within his capabilities... If I owned a CGT I wouldnt go 10 tenths round the ring either... Also I can assure you an E30 M3 trying hard to keep up wouldnt bother him one little bit!
FYI - all E30 M3s left the factory naturally aspirated, but I have to say bolting on a couple of blowers looks like it makes a very capable car even more of a weapon...

I know the driver of the CGT well. He has raced at a high level in various Formulae and is easily capable of sub 8 minute laps of the ring in a GT3 road car. The BMW looks like a bespoke ring car with a lot of power and I wouldn't be surprised if it was running slicks. If you take a CGT around the ring you have a target on your back, if you throw it up the wall it gonna cost you a lot more money than it would the BMW diver. The driver of the BMW would no doubt say he was racing the CGT, I doubt that the driver of the CGT was racing anybody.
It was nice to see them both come back in one piece.
The BMW does look quick though.

What a horrible sound that E30 is making now it's had a few turbos glued to it or whatever. Looks reasonably quick on boost, though. As for the vid, the BMW guy was going reasonably quickly, but that was kind of sloppy and messy driving a lot of the time. The CGT guy just looked like he was being cautious and nervous, and whatever about anything else - it was great to see a CGT on track. In any event, I don't imagine I'd be going 10/10ths there if I had a CGT, and that's part of the problem I have with cars like the CGT (the other part being I can't afford them).

Very entertaining.
Not having ever been on a track the BMW driver does seem to be driving like a knob (IMHO) and Im sure the CGT would have let him pass if he was fed up with him. Is it the chap who sometimes appears in Evo and now has an Enzo too?

Or perhaps:

Overall its an entertaining video, and the CGT is being driven better than i initially thought. But it is cool that an E30 m3 with mods, can keep up with it, which is a good thing if for no other reason than we can hear the V10 for as long as poss.
