Adverts with sound a step too far
Discussion
Having been away for a couple of weeks I thought I'd have a discreet check up on what's been happening on PH. There I was checking out the news pages when suddenly the sound of screeching tyres blasts out from my speakers.
Having aplogised to the guys in the office and having hunted around the screen I see the advert for some hot hatch at the very top of the screen inviting me to "touch the pedal." Well thanks, but no thanks. So I turned off the displayed sound icon and went to another page. Yes, the same thing happened again, and again!
So now when using PH do I need to turn off my speakers? I reluctantly accept that the commercialisation of PH means that we will be hit with more and more adverts but this type of "in your face" push is a step too far in my opinion. Is this just the news pages or are we going to see this proliferated throughout the site? Are we going to get more and more of this? If so, I for one will not be checking in quite as regularly throughout the day. I just hope this is a one-off trial as I haven't noticed it on here before. Please say it is and please remove it asap
