Now I've got my bike in for service and have realised it needs a brake fluid change anyway is it worth getting some braided lines at the same time?

Thanks,

Phill

Had some fitted to my R6 last week, along with sintered race pads.

The difference was amazing, although how much was done to the lines alone I'm not sure.

Depends on what you use the bike for I suspect. Mines track only so was a no brainer.

I would say that the ultimate answer is yes, braided lines are worth getting, but if you are not having any issues with the current set up then it’s probably not worth getting new lines yet.

There are some who feel that braided lines take away some of the feel but I think you have to be braking very near the limit to notice and it’s never been an issue for me.

I was thinking about it too as mine is out of warranty now so I'll be doing some of the service work myself. Anybody know anywhere that makes up the hoses for you or that does Triumph size stuff.

Triumph fit braided hoses as standard.

Get a brembo master cylinder with lines to fit that (standard ones will not fit) and that will give you an enormous difference!! £ for £ one of the best mods available - plus you can swap them from bike to bike!!

Agree with Mplayer. Braided line on the front only if short of cash, then a brembo master cylinder and bar then braid the rear if you feel it is necessary. Mine has been that way from new (GSXR 1000) and consider that is the setup on the new 1098S......

Agreed, my 916 had all braided lines from new but I swapped the master cyl for a Brembo Radial and got more power and feel with less of the 'lever-to-the-bars' situation when brakes hot, didn't need to swap the lines for the new master but the original master was Brembo so maybe that's why?

1098 also has Brembo GP radial callipers and huge discs, these are supposedly almost as good as WSB/MotoGp brakes and the best brakes yet on a production bike.

Might get a bit costly to emulate that setup as you'll probably also need new forks to fit the calipers to........

Not on mine I don't think. Doesn't look like braided anyway... The setup on it is bad. The line goes from the reservoir to the right hand caliper then from there it loos over to the left hand caliper. This creates a natural trap for any air in the loop.
I want to have both calipers coming to a t-piece then up to the reservoir. I think this has been addressed in the new Tiger.

How would I know which master cylinder to get?

Thanks,

Phill
