E36 Wheels options

Hi

Is the hole P.C.D and wheel offset the same for an e36 and e46 3 series, i'm looking for a new set of wheels for a e36 323 and think the e36 18" M3 wheels would really suit it.

Please don't. They really don't they are awful on the E36...

If there anything that make me shake my head is E46 wheels on the E36 - 17s are as big as they should go in the arches.

Have you considered perhaps sourcing some 17" BBS Wheels:

Proper bling, and still BMW OEM

or

Ones that I rather like having seen them - BBS again

OEM is the best look for german cars - IMHO



ETA: However to answer your question, yes, but you'll need to fit rubber band tyres, which will cost a fortune, and also ruin the great handling and ride. 17" is the largest you should go...

Been looking at a few pics and now i come to think of it they do have an air of "Low rent drug dealer" about them, i'm getting a 323 coupe in silver/blue metallic but don't like the wheels which are on the car at the moment,

Quite fancy a set of e36 328 sport wheels, should be able to get some quite cheap.

I'll keep on looking!

Beware those wheels, they corrode easily and badly around the nuts, do look good though. What wheels has the 323 got?

Actually yes - I may in the market for some knackered BMW alloys

328 Sport wheels are lovely, and while big - don't look huge in a bling way. However they are a pain, but I'm sure once properly refurbished they would be fine...but don't expect to find them cheap AND in good condition...

Not sure mate, the lip is a sod to refurb (so i'm told) and the slightest damage, stone chip etc. will see the lacquer peeling.

I understand however that the trick is to have them diamond cut, and then laquered to give a better surface to bond to.

I've been quoted about £100 a wheel to have the wheel done properly, where they take each rivet out (not actually real bolts), split the rim properly, do the work, and then put new rivets back in.

I understand from what I was told that this is the only real way to do them.

However - £400! Maybe one day, but considering mine spend much time covered in brake dust, they can stay chipped

Bejesus £400 a new set can't be much more, well OK then prob about £250 more

ETA - Bought a spare set of 16" double spokes (standard fit) for my 318is a couple of years back, have them in the loft for when the originals just can't get clean enough

These are what it has on at the moment!

I havn't collected it yet, think i'm going to keep them as a winter set and then get some nice ones for summer.



So much for buying a cheaper car and putting the cash back into the house!

Oh yes I see. I have a set of those off the wifes Compact in the shed, not the best are they. Replaced them with these.

Yeah 15's with 195/65's. Not in the best of condition, baked on dust and assorted rusty bits. Rubber very old mind, been sitting about for 4 years so expect they are past the use by date. Been saving them for emergency, not sure what that would be but that's what I've been telling the wife

I had a set of E46 18" MV alloys on my 328 coupe, they fitted fine with no rubbing and looked a treat on it, but by god did it use to tramline on them. Great for poseing but no good for driving i'm afraid.

Yes they will fit, however I share the views above about E46 wheels not looking the best on E36.

AC Schnitzer rims look great (as on the compact above) though, and I really really like the later Evo M3 Motorsport rims. They are puuuurfect for an E36, and available in fleabay for sensible money too.

Just thought i'd post a pic to show the wheels i decided on, firsti went for these:



18" E46 M3 wheels, the rear ones caught the arches so these are now for sale,(Wheels in good condition, completewith 4 new tyres)

I've just fitted these and i'm well pleased, another ebay bargin!

What do you think?

Just need to sort a bit of bodywork out and workout how to get my bike in the boot!
